Image-to-Image Guide
Reference images guide the subject, appearance or composition of a generated image. Upload a product photo, portrait or composition reference, then use a text prompt to specify the details to preserve and the changes to apply.
1. Choose a clear reference
Start with a sharp image in which the subject is easy to see. For a product, choose a photo that shows its shape and packaging clearly. For a portrait, use a photo with a clear face and good lighting.
Use an image you own or have permission to use. You can add up to 3 reference images, each no larger than 10 MB. PNG, JPEG and WebP are good choices; if a file is rejected, check the format requirements shown for your selected model.
2. Add your image in the workspace
Open the workspace and select a model that supports reference images. Find Reference images and choose Add image, or copy an image and paste it into the prompt field.
Wait until the reference thumbnail appears before continuing. If you cannot add a reference, choose another model with reference-image support. When using several images, explain what each one is for—for example, the product in the first image and the background style in the second.
3. Write the generation prompt
Specify the details to preserve, the changes to apply and the intended visual result. Include the relevant subject features, setting, lighting and composition.
For a product photo: “Use the uploaded handbag as the product reference. Keep its tan leather, shape and gold hardware. Place it on a cream stone table beside a sunlit window, with soft shadows and a simple background. Leave space on the right for text.”
For a portrait: “Use the uploaded portrait as the reference. Keep the hairstyle, clothing and pose. Change the background to a bright café by a window, with soft natural light and a slightly blurred background.”
Replace the subject and details with your own. Start with one clear direction; you can adjust the background, lighting or framing after you see the first result.
4. Choose your settings and generate
Choose an aspect ratio that fits where you will use the image: square for a product tile, portrait for a poster, or landscape for a banner. Resolution and quality options depend on the selected model.
Review the Credit cost shown on the Generate button, then submit. Once the result is ready, compare it with your reference, especially the product shape, text, face and other important details. Download the selected result, or choose Continue editing to make another change.
Troubleshooting
The result looks too different: use a clearer reference and explicitly name the colors, shape, clothing or pose you want to keep. Remove instructions that conflict with those details.
The background or style is off: describe it more specifically. “A cream tabletop beside a window with soft daylight” gives a clearer direction than “a premium setting.” Adjust one element at a time.
The image will not upload: check the file format and the 10 MB limit, then add it again. If you are using several references, try starting with just one.
Small details have changed: AI may redraw lettering, logos, faces or edges. Check these areas closely before using the image, and continue editing if they need attention.
